About
My name is Cos Arnett
With over a decade of experience in furniture design, interior architecture, and carpentry, I make heirloom-quality pieces accessible for the rhythms and desires of contemporary life.

Born and raised in New Jersey, my practice draws from the unique importance of the region to American furniture design. My designs are inspired to harmonize with a range of interior styles while standing out for their sturdy and singular craftsmanship. Equally comfortable with traditional hand-crafting techniques and modern materials, I specialize in live-edge designs, no-screw wood joinery, and mixed-material construction. In my role as Principal Designer at Hart Fine Furniture, I made bespoke work for clients from felled and repurposed hardwood. With an eye toward legacy and sustainability, I use a zero-VOC finish process and artisan hardwood construction techniques so that each piece can live safely in your home without concern for off-gassing or deterioration.
Prior to Hart Fine Furniture, I worked at City Bench in Higganum, Connecticut to train in the handling and design of custom furniture with wood reclaimed from urban renewal projects. From 2016-2020, I worked in the Arts Department at Gill St. Bernard’s school, teaching middle and high-schoolers the crafts of woodworking and furniture design.
In 2015, I earned my Bachelor in Fine Arts from the School for American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Woodworking and Furniture Design, gaining additional experience with metallurgy, sculpture, and glass.
My time in and outside of the shop is supported by my trusty assistant, Gracie, a German short-haired pointer, and my beloved wife, Melinda. Together we live in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, where I am a volunteer member of the High Bridge Fire Department.

I look forward to working with you.
